Prior to the opening of High Tail Acres, LLC to the public in January 1997 High Tail Acres operated as a private family show stable for over thirty years. We, as a family were solely responsible for the care, training, and showing of our American Saddlebreds, Morgans, and Hackney Ponies and our daughters' instruction throughout their junior exhibitor careers. Twenty horses/ponies earned New England Horsemen's Council High Score Awards in ten divisions from 1966-1996.
Private Family Barn ~ 1985 The Hackney ponies Big Time's Supreme Time, Yankee Doodle Sportsman, High & Mighty Classic Edition, and Domino earned American Horse Shows Association awards. Dawn's parent's, Harold and Norma Reader have owned and operated a Blue Seal Feeds dealership since 1980. They, Dawn and Skip, Deidre, Deana, and Darla have been involved in every aspect of High Tail Acres, from breeding to birth, illness and death, the thrill of victory and the acceptance of defeat. Deidre, Deana, and Darla each earned their college degrees. Deidre and Darla are Massachusetts licensed instructors and have gained valuable experience and knowledge from the horseshow community.
